Thorpedo Anna Caps Massive Year With Breeders' Cup Distaff with Louisiana Native Jockey Brian Hernandez Jr. in the Saddle
'She's A Once-In-A-Lifetime'
The 3-year-old filly bested older rivals by 2 1/2 lengths at Del Mar
Thorpedo Anna returned to the winner's circle for the Breeders' Cup Distaff to the vibrant cheers of the Del Mar crowd, having put the finishing touches on her impressive sophomore campaign with a 2 1/2-length victory.
"She's a once-in-a-lifetime," said jockey Brian Hernandez, Jr., who celebrates his 39th birthday on Sunday. "You wake up every morning dreaming of finding one like her, and to be able to be a part of it has been a lot of fun.
“That was kind of the coolest part of it when we were able to just kind of jog her back in front of the crowd and all the fans and stuff were cheering for her. It was a really special moment.”
