Oaklawn Cancels All Weekend Racing Due To Weather

Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Ark. has canceled all weekend racing Jan. 10-12 due to continued freezing temperatures and impending severe weather, according to a note sent out by track publicity on Wednesday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning from 12:00 p.m. Central on Thursday, Jan. 9, through 6:00 p.m. Central on Friday, Jan. 10. It states: "Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations between 4 and 8 inches and ice accumulations around a tenth to a quarter inch."

The track was already hit by difficult weather conditions earlier in the week, leaving training to be canceled on Monday and Tuesday due to freezing temperatures. Training was able to commence on Wednesday in the afternoon hours.
