Mr. Money Sires First Winner at Gulfstream

Florida-bred filly Money Bouquet won by 1 1/4 lengths Sept. 21 in her second start.

Millionaire Mr. Money   sired his first winner when Money Bouquet  broke her maiden Sept. 21 at Gulfstream Park.

Trained by Carlos Perez for owner Candido Vargas, Money Bouquet captured the $16,000 maiden claiming event by 1 1/4 lengths. The 2-year-old filly, sent off at 22-1 in her second start, raced the 5 1/2 furlongs on the synthetic track in 1:06.05 under jockey Jesus Rios.

Money Bouquet was bred in Florida by Kristine Michell. She is the second winner produced from the Afleet Alex  mare McLovin It.

First-crop sire Mr. Money landed five graded stakes wins on the track for trainer Bret Calhoun. After graduating as a 2-year-old, he rolled to four consecutive graded stakes wins as a 3-year-old in the 2019 Pat Day Mile Stakes (G3), Indiana Derby (G3), Matt Winn Stakes (G3), and West Virginia Derby (G3). He was also runner-up to Math Wizard  in the 2019 Pennsylvania Derby (G1) before returning as a 4-year-old to take the 2020 Ack Ack Stakes (G3) at Churchill Downs.

Mr. Money entered stud in 2021 at Journeyman Stud in Ocala, Fla., with earnings of $1,360,430. He was produced from the Tiznow  mare Plenty O'Toole , who is a half sister to stakes winners Sister Otoole  and Lady O'Toole , and graded stakes-placed Frosty O Toole .

The son of Goldencents   relocated to Clear Creek Stud in Folsom, La., for the 2023 breeding season. Mr. Money stood at Clear Creek for a fee of $4,000 in 2024.
