Deadly Tornado Hits Oklahoma's Will Rogers Downs; Extensive Damage To Stable Area, Campers

The stable area and campground adjacent to Will Rogers Downs in Claremore, Okla., were hit by a tornado late Saturday night. The tornado was part of a deadly storm system that also moved into northwest Arkansas and into Tennessee and Kentucky on Sunday, when a tornado watch was issued.

The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management reported on Sunday morning at least two confirmed fatalities in Pryor, 17 miles east of Claremore. There were 20 injuries reported – several from the KOA campground at Will Rogers Downs – and power lines were down throughout Claremore, which is located about 30 miles northeast of Tulsa. The area also was hit by a tornado four days earlier on May 21.
